Peasant Club

"Peasant Club" is an experimental editorial and curatorial platform. An annual publication launched between Casablanca, Marrakech and Marseille. The principle: one word per edition, one edition per year. The word works as a semantic magnet, broad enough to escape thematic commodification. Everything rests on a fully open call in which all contributions are accepted, a stance against closed curatorial networks. The underlying argument is simple. Named themes (precarity, migration, postcoloniality) work as machines for extracting identity; they force artists to perform legible narratives. The oblique word foils that. “Club” reads in both of its senses, the assembly and the cudgel, with a nod to the 19th-century workers' cultural centres and to peasant revolts.
